âHelp me Lord with all of these negative triggers.â Â This was my prayer last week as I entered the doors of the rehab center. My sister-in-love is recovering from a brain injury after a bad car crash, and my family and I are amazed yet again at the healing power of God. Â She is doing way better than the doctors expected of her. On this particular day my brother needed to attend to some business and he needed someone to stay with her until he returned. I jumped at the opportunity. Â That meant I would have to attend her physical, occupational, and voice therapy sessions to document this faith fight with videos.
The clock strikes 10:00am and in comes the aide to escort her to the first session. Grabbing my phone to record, I followed not too far behind her wheelchair as we entered the workout room. Â Hesitating at the door, I began to experience a squeamish, nauseating feeling; wanting to grab my head and say, âGod, make it stop!â Â It all seemed too familiar, and I had to gather myself. Â Almost two years exactly I had entered a similar center with my husband as he was recovering. Frankly, the imagery was disturbing. You see, I remember when Mike couldnât sit up, walk or even lift his arms. Â I remember them wheeling him to therapy and walking behind him with my phone recording every detail. Â I remember the parallel bars they would stand him in between so that he could learn how to walk again. Â I remember the straps, the balls, the playdough and hoya lifts. Â I remember all of that stuff and unfortunately seeing that stuff was all negative triggers for me. Â Yet, I knew exactly what to do with those triggers. Â I didnât allow what I saw or felt to dictate to me what happened next, but I started to think of all of you that read my blogs.
Like me, many of you are dealing with some negative triggers. Â Triggers are those things that you experience in your five senses that remind you of past episodes. Not all triggers are bad. Â There are some that remind you of some good and happy times. Â Then there are those that remind you of something horrible that happened. Â Reading the prayers on our prayer wall I know that some of you are confronted with some pretty bad triggers of death, abuse, adultery, sickness, murder or even not having children. Â So I wanted to share with you how I handle negative triggers. I have three words for you: FEEL, FOCUS, and FIND. Â Itâs okay for you to feel what you feel. Â God gave us feelings so itâs natural. Â However, He didnât give you feelings to lead you in your decision making. Â Thatâs Holy Spiritâs job. So make sure that Holy Spirit leads your decisions and allow Him to confront those negative feelings. Â Then focus here means to gather yourself, to get a grip, to snap out of it. Â You are the only one that can give yourself an inner slap. Things happen in life, but that is not where you want your life to park. That bad thing that happened in your life is not the climax of your story, but you have to focus. Lastly, find new triggers. Start creating new happy memories out of what you see. Like to see my sister in this ordeal I started to picture her back in full strength like my husband. You may be asking, âHow do you find new triggers with what you are experiencing?â Well, if there is a date that something bad happened and it messes you up every year, plan to do something way out of the ordinary and have so much fun doing it that it will trump the bad.
God has given us too many tools to allow the enemy to have our happy. Donât let him have your happy anymore! Cast down every evil thought that contradicts the Word of God for your life. I love you my sister and my ear is on the breastplate of God to hear each week what to write to you. Â This Wednesday is our ministry prayer and fasting day and I will be taking all of the prayer request from our prayer wall to church with me. Â Go to the wall and post so that we can come into agreement with you.
Stay connected,
Thank you for blessing me with this. It truly was a blessing because I needed to hear this.
Great!!! Great!! Great!!!
Yes and AMEN! Lord help us learn to navigate those triggers!!!
Thank you for the weekly blog. So, many times I let triggers in my life deter me from the things I know God has promised me. Being born in the late 50’s and coming of age in the 70’s I am not as bold and direct as my daughters. But I thank God that I am a work in progress and I don’t let the triggers keep me from moving toward my goals like I did in the past. We are never to old to feel, focus and find.
Blessings to you my sister in Christ
This is so powerful!!! It really bless my soul!!! I will pray the same prayer so God can and will help me with those triggers too!
I really appreciate it this blog. It has truly helped me with my inner triggers I feel every year around my mother’s death. Thank you for sharing. You’re truly a blessing.
Awesome
I love the idea of re-establishing significance in a date that may have been painful before. Then you new anniversaries are reminders of the victory. You’re strong, we win, and you continue to be a demonstration of God’s greatest works in the earth through your obedience and love. I am standing in agreement for your sister-in-love in every regard. The things you share so transparently are unconventional for spiritual leaders – but it helps us to remember how powerful God is and that we don’t have to feel as if we are doing something wrong when we face battles. Thank you for being so honest about your struggles, and always your VICTORY!! Love and blessings to you always!
FEEL, FOCUS, and FIND đđžThank you Dr.DeeDee for those encouraging words. I was sitting here in my car waiting for this store to open and being attended to the HOLY SPIRIT I were lead to post on my FB page to be generous to someone today in anyway you can bless them don’t have to be with money could be with a smile or a hug or even a encouraging word or a prayer because you never know what the next person is going though, and just by being obedience to the HOLY SPIRIT you bless me â¤ď¸With your words .
This is awesome. I was just telling someone how with all of the trials I have been through the last few years that I didn’t feel worthy. But what I realize was it was because of my circumstances that I didn’t feel worthy. But God has always deemed me worthy in his eyes not in the eyes of man. Thank you for these weekly encouraging blogs.
Thank you so much for this inspiring uplifted Blog!! I must protect my focus from negative triggers and remain Happy in life regardless of life’s negative experiences. Thank you Dr. Deedee.
Good morning Dr. Dee Dee and thank you..
Thank You, Pastor Dee Dee, truly a blessed and needed word.
Thanks for this post. I needed this. I too have experienced similiar events. For me it has been dates that loved ones have passed and.It is especially hard when that happens around the holidays, but I am trying to focus on all the wonderful blessings of God. Praying that your sister in law will be totally restored.
My stepson 27 years old was murdered on September 13, 2014. How do you celebrate (turn it around being positive)? Without offending his brother, and sisters. My husband receives phone calls every year on that day from family and friends. I love our Monday’s Dr. DeeDee.
You can sit down and talk to them and let them know that as a family you have to create better memories on that day. The family that calls will keep you stuck there and make you feel like you can’t move forward. You as the mother are probably the only one that can do it. Tell your family you want to start celebrating the life you had with him oppose to the life you won’t have. It will hurt for a while and that’s understandable but you can cast that hurt to Christ and he will help you through it.
Thank you Dr. DeeDee
Hi Angela, maybe you could share this blog with them. It’s only been 2 years for them and people will tell you that they are still going through even after 12 years or so over their loved ones passing, so it’s a different progression for everyone. But, sharing this may be a start in the right direction or so, so that more healing can begin to take place.
The combination of suggestions between you and Dr DeeDee hopefully will work.
Thank you Catherine
what an awesome message for this day ! i’m so glad that i’ve started subscribing to your blog; great way to start the workweek off. blessings to you sister !
Dr. Deedee, you are a true example of a positive thinker, and focusing on the things that you know God Has promised us. God bless you!!
Amazing!!!.. How This is my third comment.. Satan tried to stop me!!.. Error kept coming up.. But, my faith was too strong to stop… Thank You for this weekly blog filled with lessons learned through life experiences and scriptures.. In Jesus Name this comment will submit… Love You Dr. DeeDee
Yes thank you so much!! As I was reading I was in one of those triggers but instead of combating it right away I began to get those uneasy feelings, and then the memories started to come back. Memories of staying stuck in a bad relationship, and ME trying to figure out how God would work things out for me moving to a new city, new people, new environment, and no family. So I walked away and gave myself permission to come back and con’t reading, for a moment, your triggers reminded me of my triggers, nevertheless I came back and con’t reading. (Ah!! And BOY AM I GLAD!) I refuse to allow my feelings to dictate the BLESSINGS God has available for me. So I say thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! And I will be making New MEMORIES!!
đđžđđžđđ˝đđ˝!!
Thank you so very much for sharing this awesome encouraging word of God life principal.
Help us Lord!!!
Dr. Dee Dee you are making a tremendous impact with these, lessons of,which I am grateful and will apply. I need to meditate, on this word so that I become familiar and overcomer in it.
Dr DeeDee that message was powerful. I received the first confirmation in a message on yesterday regarding a situation and here you are in this blog stating the 2nd confirmation. I CANNOT WAIT FOR MY REQUEST TO MANIFEST!!! SHOUTING RIGHT NOW!!!
You are such an Inspiration to me and I enjoy reading your weekly blogs! They help so much and I really appreciate you. Much Love!
Awesome! Thank you very much for this “now” word especially the word “Find”. This will involve strategic prayers. I have had a lot of bad church experiences and when I see evil occur in the body of Christ it sets off triggers. I will keep a vision of Gods plan in front of me and claim the victory.
Wow I really needed this. I had already read Gotta luv em and I realized that you actually used your 3 step for triggers that day as well. I really enjoyed them both. Continue to allow God to use you
You’ve been equipped for this battle, and you have proof evident of the impending victory !!! We stand with you all in prayer and confident confession of faith for your sisters total healing in Jesus name !!!

Awesome!!
Reading this never fails to minister to my heart. Today it also confirms in me that I am growing up in Christ and becoming a keener hearer (and obeyer) of Holy Spirit. It confirms that I indeed walk by faith and not by sight. Only eternity will ever be able to tell the impact you have had on my life. I am grateful and humbled. Dr. Deed Dee I Love You More. Thank you.
I need a financial blessing in INDEED. An automobile to be able to get out and do what God has called me to be. Serving in the community I also need a building.
Hi Dr. Dee Dee! Thanks for sharing, I look forward to Monday mornings to read your blog.
Question, how can I post something one the prayer wall?
Again .. Dr Dee Dee I am so proud of you .. There is NO LACK in your Faith… It grows stronger daily as so do we as we read / see you continue to walk the words you minister to us.
Tell Mininster Karen, we look forward to her plans we know she is orchestrating on her Faith Wall with her GGG planning .
Bless You Both
Barbara Ann
Thank you for sharing so needed that word of encouragement. I’m going to handle the negative triggers by feeling and focusing and finding positive triggers. Thank you for your honesty and love.
Thank you Dr. Deedee,
Great advice!! I will definitely use your strategy “Feel, Focus and Find” going forward.
Thank you very much for this story today. It truly blessed me! My great aunt went into surgery today. I plead the blood of Jesus over her healing right now! Amen! So every time I get a negative thought I will truly remember her healthy self! Thanks!!
What an Awesome word on this day! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement and for openly sharing with us. I look forward to this every Monday along with “Monday Motivation” from my Awesome Pastor, Drs. Wayne and Wendi Frye. I pray that your sister in law will continue to progress mighty with ALL her therapies.
Even though I posted to the wrong blog earlier, this message is just as good. I’m going to stop letting those negative triggers take away my happiness. God will fix everything in my life that needs fixing and I am going to start to walk as I should knowing that it’s already done.
Thank you Dr.Dee Dee for the encouragement. I just got some news that seems to be a reoccurence every couple of years. Although i have seen God move miraculously everytime in the past the initial shock is still there but I’m yet trusting.i resolve to Feel, Find, and Focus. God is still in control. Love you too life precious Woman of God.
Thanks Dr. Dee Dee. I had bilateral SI injections and is suffering with nerve damage in my left leg. Due to this I was hospitalized/ missing work and multiple physicians and Physical Therapy appointment has out a financial strain on me. I believing God for total healing and restored finances.
This was all to good. For the past 11+years, I haven’t wanted to hear a particular song being played on the radio, Pandora or etc. This is because it reminds me of my mother, who is deceased. The song is the last song I remembered surrounding her passing. This year I found myself telling my husband several times to play something else on Sunday mornings when he has his music lined up getting ready for church and this song comes on, as I begin to feel anxious (yes I said anxious). Well, recently the song was sang during praise and worship at church and I made a decision to embrace it. I had to breath/exhale and get it together and not freak out or lose my way. But, I did it. It was and felt hard at first, but I did it. Oh! In times past I’d prayed to God to help me get through when hearing this particular song. And not to mention, I’ve always thought I was a cool and together individual (not thinking to highly of myself than I oughtđđ.
Dr. Dee Dee (or sister kinny as I called you when I met you), thank you for this. It really helped me to be normal!
Above all, I gave myself an inner slap!!!
Bless you Dr. Dee Dee for your profound wisdom! This blog has unlocked the doors of many who are hurting. Sometimes when people hurtâŚâHurtsâ, it causes them to wind up feeling helpless, hopeless, and just plain stuck. Your Godly wisdom Dr. Dee, has given to us the needed permission to become âunstuckâ when these triggers pop up. The revelation, thatâs âit is ok to have feelingsâ âŚis that permission. Now what to do with that feeling is a different ballgame, and the key for breakthrough, because âsometimes you may feel like a nut, and sometimes you donâtâ. Many times, problems are identified through âchurchy or religious type circlesâ, but they never teach us how to get out of the situation and how to victoriously overcome that problem once and for all. Thanks Dr. Dee for always hearing from Holy Spirit and acting on His instructions. Because of your faithfulness and obedience, we are all so, soooo blessed, and the better for it.
This is so on time for me! Two days ago my 6 year old had a seizure after being on medication AND seizure free for 8 months and 1 day. Yes, I’m counting because when she started the medication, we were told after 2 years being seizure free she would be taken off the medication. At her last visit, six months on medication and still seizure free, the neurologist said she looked great and if she continued to be seizure free, she could be taken off the medication in January 2017 instead of January 2018, one year earlier than originally stated. This last seizure was a bad trigger for me. In my mind it restarted that 2 year clock over. But this morning, I reminded myself and the enemy of how Pastor Mike overcame death, astounding the doctors and making medical history. Since we serve the same God and live by the same Word, I declared that my daughter will still be off the medication in January 2017. I felt sad initially, but changed my focus! Now to find new triggers in this. Thank you for sharing.
Amen!!!
totally blessed me and spoke right to me
You are so anointed!! Every word heals the broken area.
Dr. DeeDee thank you so much for this! I have I have been fighting some negative triggers, but I will win this fight! Thank you for sharing this!

I am so tired of these negative triggers I could spit or curse or scream or even worse, I won’t do that because I am looking forward to the end result, the promise and not the process. But it is getting so hard for me. I cry almost every day, I smile even when I am hurting on the inside. I pray in the Spirt all throughout my day then comes the trigger and most times I loose it lash out because no one seams to understand me they all twist my words, then when I’m quite they say I have some kind of attitude. HELP!!!
Wow DrDeeDee I felt, I focused and found some Word for my feelings. One of the feelings were loneliness the other misunderstood. For loneliness John 14 15-31, message, the spirit of truth and Psalm23.4.
Feeling misunderstood John 15.18-16.1
It was so funny. I got out my notebook, pen higherKing James and The Message Bibles. I also took out my date book. Though I was about to do some kind of deep studing, right, wrong. I was lead to the back of my date book which has scripture all throughout it for weekly even daily reading(I hardly ever read them).in the very back of the book”crisis scripture guide”. I went to loneliness and found exactly what I needed to stay FOCUSED.
THANK YOU FOR THE WORD
I love you
Wow!! Dr. DeeDee I needed this. Thank you for allowing Holy Spirit to lead you. These negative triggers WILL NOT WIN with me!! I have the power through Jesus Christ to overcome. Thank you so much !
Thank you for the wisdom and love.
Thank you for being obedient to the Holy Spirit!!
OMG!! I JUST got off my knees talking to God about this same, exact thing. I want to get rid of the triggers but it’s about moving through them so the effects aren’t lasting nor negative… Thank you!!! And may God continue to strengthen your sister and your extended families!
God knows exactly what to give you when needed and his timing is always impeccable. As I started reading this blog last week, I only made it to the first few sentences. At that point my triggers kicked in the exact same thing I read in the first couple of sentences, where the very things I said just a week ago. My grandmother is in rehab now and it’s tough for me, because I’m away at school and I can’t physically be there at the time and that’s when my negative triggers kick in. I do allow myself to feel how I feel, but I also have to keep my focus and remain calm because I know that “It’s all a part of the process.” Thank you Dr. DeeDee for sharing your experiences, they are helping me and teaching me more than you’ll ever know.
Awesome, I so needed to read this! I’m only 31 and I deal with a lot of bad triggers in my head, of being afraid of losing and stepping out on faith and trusting God, to be who people say he is! In which I have now been placed in that situation to trust God and get to know him for the god of love, peace, healing, and provider that he is! Even tho I got to figure out how to let the negative triggers, leave my head! I really need to read this thank you!
Thank you Dr. DeeDee. I just read this tonight. My paternal grandfather’s birthday was today and the blog date was my paternal grandmother’s death date. I experienced triggers today before reading this powerful message from Holy Spirit thanks to you. I receive. â¤ď¸
